  1. Works great and easy to use

Posted by kk on 12th May 2014

I think the user interface could be better and more robust but overall I would buy another. I like the motion activation for the recording.

  3. Set-up so easy, Even I could do it!

Posted by TT on 21st Apr 2014

We had a computer/surveillance company set us up with their more expensive DVR which kept breaking because of these imaginary "power surges" which mysteriously affected only the DVR. So this guy tells us it's gonna be $144.5 to replace the DVR with a new one. Off to sc2000 I went in search of a less expensive highly-rated replacement and I found the DSA1455Q. The only thing I was worried about was completing the set-up, since I read a few reviews complaining how difficult it was. I was also reluctant to cut ties with our rip-off computer/surveillance company guy, figuring there was no way I could figure it out on my own (as he had told me). Boy, was he ever wrong! The only "glitch" I had in the set-up involved my Verizon router. I needed to call the manufacturer of the router to complete the set-up process. Start to finish it was 2 hours (and I know NOTHING about all this networking stuff). The DVR has been working like a charm for the past two months, and I swear the picture is even clearer than my old DVR. I use the Viewcam app for my iPhone, and that set-up was a breeze!

The last good I have is the Viewcam app can access your DVR for playback...I does Live viewing fine too.

Overall, if you want to cut your computer/surveillance guy loose, this DVR is a great purchase!

  4. Eyes on you

    Posted by H******. on 7th Mar 2014

I bought this DVR and its ok. The easy to use menue is good ,the down side is the remote IR system is very poor i almost have to stand in front of the DVR to get the remote to regester with the DVR . I haven't networked it as yet so i wish this DVR came with an IR sensor port so if i did not want to connect to my network and did not wont to have the DVR in the open I could put it in a closeth but still be able to control it with it's remote.

  5. Works fine

Posted by Unknown on 27th Jan 2014

I have 16 cameras installed in and around my home connected to 2pcs 8 channel DVRs from SC2000. My friends and family think I am crazy, or a pervert, or both. I don't care. I do love these DVR's and they really works fine untill now. what they do nicely is show you the video. It's HDMI. I would recommend this unit if you are looking for a low cost to performance ratio.

It took just a few minutes to hook-up and it has been going strong since. Instructions are very informative.

  7. It's actually pretty awesome, once you get it all setup.

    Posted by D*******************; on 14th Jan 2014

I'll begin my review by saying, this unit is worth the money, affordable and does a great job with nice features, but it can be complicated to set up, so it'll require a little effort and patience, but well worth it!

It does what you might expect, but the instructions can require a masters degree in technology to understand at times. The manual is also not current with the actual menu. Thank goodness I am tech savvy. I had some problems right out of the box, but it does work like expected.

I tried online chat support several times only to get the message; "department closed". But support by email was very responsive and helpful. Although if you dig deep enough, you usually find the info you need in the sc2000 websites Help&FAQ.

It's a nice looking unit, nice compact size, design and quality construction. The motion record is a cool feature. It has some great options. I couldn't find a firmware update online but support sent me a link. Some improvements on the user interface would be nice. You can do more with the mouse than the remote and in some case you must use the mouse, especially if you want to playback video (to select and search for a time block for reviewing).
It did not come with the HDD, but I bought a good used one cheap online (you know that *bay place) and installation was a breeze. I had to run the format utility to make the HDD compatible, not difficult, just look for the HDD option in the menu. I'd recommend the Western Digital Blue 2 TB 3.5" SATA Hard Drive

I finally setup the remote/internet viewing. You almost need a basic understanding of networking and IP's but the included network setup page covers the basics. You'll need to access your modems settings to open 5 specific internet ports or you will not be able to view remotely. DSA1455Q has a good helper page to guide you through the process ([...]

This DVR offers lots of high D1 quality storage capacity with your selection of HDD size and the multiple cameras option is a great feature for monitoring my home's surroundings, from a number of different locations.

  8. This works awesome

    Posted by J**************m on 3rd Jan 2014

I have had this for a while and it works awesome. It records without a hitch and is very simple to use once you spend some time playing with it. The instructions do suck. Almost everything is simple to use if you can use a computer.

  9. This thing is awsome

    Posted by R***********y on 20th Nov 2013

Got it, plugged it in, hooked up cameras and it worked. Just that easy. Was able to download an app and see the cameras on my phone and tablet. The big catch to that is making sure you have the right ports open on your modem/router. I could not be happier with this item.
