Dozy burglar Martin Gilbert is the star of his own crime show as he strolls around an OAP’s home staring at security cameras picking out his every move.

The 45-year-old spent 60 minutes gazing into the lenses after he broke into a bungalow and stole a laptop. And his eye-catching performance landed him a role in jail when a judge gave him three and a half years.

Cowardly Gilbert targeted vulnerable elderly folk, netting himself a £30,000-haul of jewelry, cash and computers during a six-month burglary spree.

He often struck in daylight and did not seem to care if his victims were still at home. The menace was caught red-handed in September after raiding a pensioner’s property in the Gosforth area of Newcastle.

He was recognized instantly by police due to his long criminal record, the city’s crown court heard. Gilbert, of no fixed address, admitted four burglaries. Another 14 offences were taken into consideration.
