Traffic violations continue to be frequent in the capital as on average 350 persons are caught flouting traffic rules every day.
The state government is considering setting up a surveillance system in the city. Moreover, it will also keep a tab on criminals and help the police check crime rate in the city. The city will come under a single network.
The surveillance system will be integrated with video data analysis, command and control system to strengthen the crime-control system in the city.
The surveillance cameras would be installed at 83 places across the city. A total of 49 traffic intersections will come under the CCTV vigil. Apart from this cameras would also be installed at sensitive zones and places of large gathering. The Ernst and Young have prepared the detailed project report.
The city will be divided into six zones. In each zone, a BTS (base transceiver system) would be set up. Each BTS will be connected to specific number of cameras. Once the cameras capture the images, it would send those to the BTS through wire system. The BTS will immediately transmit the images to the police control room and the police commissioner’s office. A video wall will be installed there to screen the pictures. It will also be connected to the modern control room.
